Imho i think you have a good plan of attack. There are a few choices for the refractory lining i am using itc 100 ht which looks like a cement mortar however it can with stand extremely high heats. Can i cast my liner and skip using ceramic fiber blanket to line my forge. I was thinking of a similar method on my next forge that being said in my experience i have found that the coating on the ceramic wool serves to protect the wool from damage and little more other than being able to withstand the heat.

Initially i was looking for 2600f blanket in 2 thinkness but for the price and quantity 50 feet this was not to be passed up.
